Sandeep Lamichhane Earlier Life:

Sandeep Lamichhane was born on August 2, 2000 (age 19 Years) in Aruchaur, Syangja, Nepal. His father name is Chander Narayan Lamichhane who has served in the Indian Railways and his mother Kopila Devi Lamichhane is a housewife. He has one brother and sister named Mohan Lamichhane and Indu Lamichhane Neupane.

During his childhood, he grew up idolizing Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne as his inspiration. He spent 5 years in Haryana, India and then moved to Chitwan District, Nepal, where he started playing cricket at the Chitwan Academy under the tutelage of former captain Raju Khadka.

Sandeep Lamichhane Career:

At the age of 14, he was discovered by the former coach of Nepal Cricket team Pubudu Dasanayake and captain Paras Khadka and was selected for the Under-19 training camp.

On April 16, 2016, Sandeep made his List A debut for Nepal against Namibia at Kirtipur in the ICC World Cricket League Championship 2015-17.

Later, he was added to Nepal’s Under-19 squad for the 2016 Under-19 World Cup and showcased his talent in their second game against Ireland by picking up 5 wickets including a hat-trick, becoming the first Nepali cricketer and fifth bowler in the U-19 World Cup history to take a hat-trick.

He picked 14 wickets in the 2016 Under-19 World Cup tournament at an average of around 18 and completed the tournament as the second highest wicket-taker.

In May 2016, former Australian captain Michael Clarke spotted the young lad when he played with him during the inaugural Hong Kong T20 Blitz for Kowloon Cantoons and invited him to play at the Sydney based Western Suburbs District Cricket Club where he played under the guidance of Shane Warne, Michael Clarke and with some other greats.

After a successful U-19 World Cup campaign, Sandeep continued to dominate the opposition teams in the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament. He performed well in the tournament and finished off as the man of the tournament with 17 wickets in just 6 games and lifted his nation to the World Cup qualifiers for the second time in history.

Lamichhane became the first player from Nepal to get a contract in the IPL after he was bought by the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the 2018 IPL Auction. He made his IPL debut against Royal Challengers Bangalore and took a wicket conceding 25 runs in his spell.

In the same year, he represented Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL) and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). In the 2018-19 ICC World T20 Asia Qualifier league, Sandeep, who bagged 24 wickets in just six games, was the leading wicket-taker of the tournament.

Sandeep made his T20I debut for ICC Rest of the World XI team against West Indies in the Hurricane Relief T20 Challenge on May 31, 2018. The following year, he made his ODI debut for Nepal against the Netherlands on February 3, 2019, after gaining the ODI status during the 2018 World Cup Qualifier Competition.
