Aamir Khan was born as Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan to Tahir Hussain and Zeenat Hussain on 14 March 1965 (Age 54 years) in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He has a brother, Faisal Khan and two sisters, Nikhat and Farhat Khan.

Contemporary Bollywood actor Imran Khan happens to be his nephew. Aamir received his education from J.B Petit School, St. Anne’s High School, Bandra, and Bombay Scottish School, Mahim. He then received his education of the twelfth grade from Narsee Monjee College in Mumbai.

Aamir Khan was initially married to Reena Dutta and they had two children Junaid and Ira. But both of them divorced in the year 2002. In the year 2005, Aamir got married to Kiran Rao with whom he had a son through surrogacy whose name is Azad Rao Khan.

Aamir initially made his acting debut as a child actor in the film ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’ in the year 1973. He then got an experimental role in the film ‘Holi’ in the year 1984 which did not perform well as the box office. Later on, Aamir Khan got selected for playing the lead role in the film ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ in the year 1988. He again acted in the thriller film ‘Raakh’ in the year 1989.

Aamir reached great heights of success during the 1990s when he delivered a lot of successful films in Bollywood such as ‘Dil,’ ‘Raja Hindustani,’ ‘Sarfarosh,’ etc. Aamir Khan Productions was being founded by him in the year 1999 and his first film under this banner was ‘Lagaan’ which was a huge success in the year 2001. Aamir has won a total of nine Filmfare Awards and four National Film Awards for his outstanding performance in many films of Bollywood. However, he is known for not attending any of the award ceremonies because of which he always lands himself in some kind of controversies.

His film ‘Lagaan’ was also nominated for the Oscars but later on, it could not grab any award there. The Government of India awarded Aamir Khan with the Padma Shri Award in the year 2003 and the Padma Bhushan Award in the year 2010.

Aamir also received an Honorary Doctorate degree from Maulana Azad National Urdu University for his contribution towards the Hindi film industry. In the year 2011, he was invited as a jury member to the Berlin Film Festival.
